Retold by The Legendary Connection

Once upon a time, there was an old man who planted a turnip. The turnip grew bigger, and bigger, and bigger until it was huge! The old man tried to pull the turnip out of the ground. He pulled, and pulled, and pulled, but it was too big. So he called his wife to help.

The old woman held onto the old man, and the old man held onto the turnip. They pulled, and pulled, and pulled! But the turnip was still too big. So the old woman called her granddaughter to help.

The granddaughter held onto the old woman, the old woman held onto the old man, and the old man held onto the turnip. They pulled, and pulled, and pulled, but the turnip would not budge. So the granddaughter called the dog to help.

The dog held onto the granddaughter, the granddaughter held onto the old woman, the old woman held onto the old man, and the old man held onto the turnip. They all pulled, and pulled, and pulled, but the turnip still did not move. So the dog called the cat to help.

The cat held onto the dog, the dog held onto the granddaughter, the granddaughter held onto the old woman, the old woman held onto the old man, and the old man held onto the turnip. They pulled, and pulled, and pulled, but they still could not pull the turnip out of the ground. So the cat called the mouse to help.

The mouse held onto the cat, the cat held onto the dog, the dog held onto the granddaughter, the granddaughter held onto the old woman, the old woman held onto the old man, and the old man held onto the turnip. They all pulled and pulled and pulled some more. Finally, the turnip came out!

It took everyone working together to pull out the gigantic turnip.
